Horse Care Volunteer
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic horse care volunteers. You don’t need any prior horse experience as we provide a thorough training program. You’ll be responsible for looking after and maintaining the herd as part of a team, and maintaining the horse’s living environment. As you progress through the training program you’ll also get the chance to become involved with behaviour management and training. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about horses and wants hands on experience learning how to care for, manage, train and handle them ethically and using force free techniques.
This role gives you the chance to:
Volunteer Commitment: The work is flexible and can be part time or full time depending on your availability. We suggest a regular commitment of 3 hours or more a week. The position is long term.
Is a DBS check required for this role?: No
We are looking for individuals with some of the following skills:
Our farm is based in Middlewich, Cheshire. Own transport arrangements to and from the farm will need to be made.
What support is available for the volunteer?:
Volunteers are given full induction training and are required to attend the horse care volunteer training so that they are safe and well informed about their role. The volunteer manager will ensure that each volunteer has regular supervisions and is given the appropriate level of support to excel in their role.
What training is available for the volunteer?:
Full Induction.
Horse Care Volunteer Training, which includes half a day of formal training a month.
This role gives you the chance to:
- Gain experience in the voluntary sector working with animals.
- Access to an extensive training program and learn best practise in ethical horse management.
- Get hands on experience putting your learning into practise.
- Maintain excellent welfare for our horses.
- Work as part of a larger committed and enthusiastic team.
