Volunteer Supervisor
We’re excited to announce that we’ve received funding from Cheshire Community Foundation to extend our educational volunteer project in 2022. As such we’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly individuals to supervise our volunteers at our farm in Middlewich, Cheshire.
This is a temporary position on a self-employed basis.
Introduction
Thanks to the Cheshire Community Foundation we have an exciting new opportunity available! We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic yard supervisors, on a part-time or full-time basis. This is a temporary position on a self-employed basis. Salary is £10.00 an hour.
As a volunteer supervisor you will be given extensive training and support, and ultimately will be responsible for the overseeing a small group of regular volunteers for the duration of the project (5 months).
You will provide a friendly, supportive and safe environment for our volunteers and ensure that the horse’s care needs are met each day. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about horses, and has great person skills.

Job Commitment:
The position is available on a part-time or full-time basis, depending on your availability. Our volunteer project runs between 10am-5pm weekdays and weekends, so you’ll need to be available during these times. The position is temporary (5 months) and on a self-employed basis, so you will be responsible for your own self-assessment and tax.
Enhanced DBS is required for successful applicants.
We are looking for individuals with the following skills:
If you are successful, you’ll be enrolled on our internal induction training, and also supported to access external training, including first aid at work, mental health first aid, safeguarding, health and safety and short horse behaviour courses.

- Access extensive training, both in house and external.
- Gain experience in a supervisory role with additional responsibilities.
- Gain experience in the voluntary sector working with animals.
- Become adept at providing best practise in ethical horse management.
- Maintain excellent welfare for our horses.
- Supervise and manage a larger committed and enthusiastic team.
- Work alongside our managing director and equine behaviour consultant.
- Have input in our horse care practises in order to improve welfare and the CIC as a whole.

- Horse care experience- necessary.
- Knowledge of positive reinforcement-based methods and force-free horse handling- preferred.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, young people or children- necessary.
- Excellent people skills; positive, friendly and supportive attitude. Able to maintain a safe and supportive environment for our volunteers and beneficiaries.
- Willing to learn and contribute positively to the organisation.
