Maintenance Volunteer
Introduction
We urgently need help from a team of dedicated maintenance volunteers to help get our new farm ready for the horses. As a maintenance volunteer you’ll be responsible for repairing and restoring our new farm premise in Middlewich as part of a larger team. Jobs will include building and repairing fencing, carrying out basic DIY and creating a therapeutic space for the horses and service users. We’re looking for volunteers with experience or an interest in DIY and/ or gardening. Full induction training will be provided before work commences and volunteers will be fully supervised.
This role gives you the chance to:
Volunteer Commitment: Our maintenance volunteers meet weekly on Tuesday afternoon, between 2pm and 5pm. The post is flexible, and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you choose.
It will be based at our farm in Middlewich, post code CW10 0JX. Own transport to and from the premises will have to be arranged.
Is a DBS check required for this role?: No
Skills and Qualifications Required:
We are ideally looking for individuals with some of the following skills:
• DIY, including wood work, construction, repair work.
• Gardening, horticulture or land management.
• Manual handling.
If you don't have skills in these areas you can still apply. We want volunteers who are eager to learn and enthusiastic to get stuck in.
What support is available for the volunteer?:
Volunteers are given induction training and will be supported by staff from The Positive Herd Project throughout the day.
We will provide refreshments and a COVID-safe environment to get out of the rain. We ask that volunteers bring their own lunch and come in suitable clothing.
What training is available for the volunteer?:
Full induction including site tour. Ongoing supervision.
